Ready?

Eight months ago his orders became 'active' and he was gone.
Seven months ago I was able to see him for four days.
Five months ago he arrived in Afghanistan.
Four months from now he will return home.

"Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." -1 Peter 1:13

When we call our families and tell them that we are coming to visit, they get excited to see us. Sometimes it has been months since we've seen some of them, or maybe even just a few weeks. No matter how long it has been, they are still excited and the plans being to be put in place for our arrival. I can't help but only imagine the excitement and happiness that his return will bring and all the plans that will be made for his arrival.

But what leaves me utterly speechless is how his return home will be nothing compared to the glory that awaits us in Heaven! God, our Father, has a place that is prepared and waiting for us when we come home. Not only has he prepared a place for us to come home to, but He is equipping us to get ready for that wonderful reunion in Heaven.

As much as I love my family and the fun we have, and as much as I look forward to his homecoming from the year-long deployment, I absolutely cannot wait to come home to Heaven and finally see my Heavenly Father face to face. Oh what a day that will be!
