Being away for the weekend was quite the adventure because we took Tilly and Charlie along with. We weren't sure how well they were going to do in the car for the 3 hour drive since Tilly occasionally gets sick just driving the 50 minutes to Leighton, and Charlie...well, he hadn't ever had to be in a car longer than 20 minutes since the day we got him! But the puppies did well...they actually slept the majority of the way down there without making a peep!
Friday night we just kind of took it easy and watched some television before heading to bed for the night. Saturday morning we all headed out to the Kansas City Zoo and had fun battling the confusing paths, crowds of people, the miles of walking, and humidity...oh, and the fact that the majority of the animals were sleeping! Afterward we went to get a late lunch before heading back to the house to rest for a while. On Sunday we went to the mall and walked around and just browsed for a few hours and then spent time together again that evening making dinner, chasing the dogs around the yard, and watching a movie. Monday had a late start, but we made a big breakfast. After that the boys headed to the baseball game while all of us girls put together the start of Lillyonna's scrapbook. And once the boys got back, we packed up our stuff and made our trip back up to Des Moines to get home.
It was a great weekend getting to spend time with family that we don't get to see very often. It was most definitely one of those times that makes you stop and remember how thankful and blessed you are for all that you have :)
