4th of July Weekend

The few days leading up to the weekend were crazy busy. AJ returned home from Camp Ripley in Minnesota after a long day of traveling, vehicles breaking down and setting him back 2 hours, finally returning to Boone, and then driving home where he arrived around 8:45pm. AJ was relieved to be home again, but poor little Charlie didn't like the idea of having him around so much. He was scared to death, and would run away to hide or just yelp loudly when AJ tried to play with him and give him some attention! But Charlie is most definitely warming back up to him again :)

On the evening of the 1st we went downtown to Yankee Doodle Pop for the second year. We were able to meet up and go with some friends, which of course made the occasion much more enjoyable. We walked around a little and ate our Subway dinners before sitting around and enjoying the music. We then moved to our fireworks location of which we had a great view. Although the fireworks weren't as good as we were hoping, it was still a fun night spent out with friends :)
For the rest of our 4th of July weekend we were able to have AJ's family come up from Kansas City and spend some time here celebrating the 3 recent birthdays on June 29, July 2, & July 5. Being that it was our niece's first birthday, we were able to celebrate by having a birthday party where she was able to dig into her first birthday cake all by herself! She wasn't so sure what she was supposed to do, or if she was even allowed to play with it without getting in trouble, but it didn't take her long to get things figured out! She had a lot of fun, and I'm sure she enjoyed her little sugar buzz as well :)
